The villa was built at the beginning of the twentieth century by the Caffarelli princes of Rome as a family summer residence. During a holiday, as guests in a friend’s home, they fell in love with our coastline and Ronchi in particular. The bought some land and undertook the construction of the villa in Tuscan architectural style.

PThe property extended over 10,000 m2 enriched by a huge pine grove and thick Mediterranean vegetation that arrived to the sand dunes that used to disguise the white sand and the beautiful sea along Versilia.

During that period the road along the sea, which exists today, wasn’t there and the few inhabitants of the local and nearby villas would offer each other a ride in their small, horse-drawn carriages. Villa Caffarelli, without doubt, was the most beautiful and elegant home for many years. The family of the Caffarelli princes, apart from the importance of the name, loved art and hosted the most important noble and industrial families in Italy, such as the Agnellis, the Ricasoli barons, the Antinori’s, as well as writers, musicians and painters of international fame, such as James Joyce, Thomas Mann, D'annunzio, Svevo, De Chirico and many other artists from that era. Many years went by and due to various events the villa was put up for sale. In 1972 my husband and I bought the villa which was at that stage completely derelict.

Let's begin with the restoration of the property to return it to its ancient splendour, yet maintaining the same original features with a selection of period furniture, searching for precious objects, fabric and decor that contribute to creating a warm atmosphere full of charm, with the addition of the most sophisticated comforts to satisfy even the most demanding guests.

I put all my soul and my creativity into the hotel and I believe I have achieved my goal because everything is sensed and appreciated by our dear clients who tell us they feel at home, as if they were staying in a friend's villa.
